Teething is the pits!

Matthew is a very early teether! He cut his first 2 teeth at 4 months! He had 8 teeth (4 on the top and 4 on the bottom) by his 1st birthday! Now he is cutting 2 top molars! Last night they were so swollen it hurt to sleep on his back because either way he laid his head, it was putting pressure on his swollen gums! So we dosed him up on Tylenol, teething tablets and teething gel and he was finally able to sleep!
The problem is, the only thing that he can get all the way back there to chew on, is his finger! And since part of the tooth has come through, it hurts when he bites himself! So last night after he went to bed, I ran to the grocery store and bought some carrots! When I was a nanny and my kids were teething, I would freeze a carrot and give it to them to chew on! It was perfect! The cold was soothing and they could get it all the way back there! I put an old infant sock on the bottom, so his little hands didn't get cold and he is loving it!
Let's hope those teeth pop out soon!

Matthew's birthday!

Good morning to the birthday boy!

Matthew was not so thrilled about having the flash go off in his face when he first woke up, but it made some cute, funny pictures! And we had a great day...check out what we did all day on his birthday!

This was Matthew' birthday breakfast, his favorite: bananas and oatmeal! Yum! :)

Matthew actually opened his present all by himself! He would rip off a small piece and then hand it to Scott! It took a while, but he had fun!

Rollin' in style!
Matthew loves his new car! Here he is checkin' out all the gears!

After a nap, Matthew and I went to Disneyland to celebrate!

A Disneyland Birthday!
We are ready for Disneyland! Matthew got a Birthday pin that he wore all day! He didn't even try to take it off, but it was funny to watch him when strangers would come up to him and say "Happy birthday Matthew!" He couldn't figure out who they were and how they knew his name! We were so glad we could spend his special day at Disneyland!

Here he is with his Birthday pin!
The guy who gave it to him was a little freaky, so Matthew was watching him very closely!

We took the monorail from Downtown Disney into Disneyland and it was by far Matthew's favorite ride! We could have rode around and around in it all day and Matthew would have been perfectly content! :)

Autotopia

Matthew really liked the Autotopia ride! It was the first ride we went on and they only one I could get pictures of! He got his first "driver's license" and held on tight to it! He sat right next to me the whole ride just watching everything! It was a lot of fun!

Mickey's Playhouse

Matthew loved walking around Mickey's house! Lots of fun things to touch and the best part...nothing he can break or hurt himself on! Yeah for mom! He got to meet Mickey at the end which actually wasn't very much fun for him!

This was at Donald's boat...Matthew loves water, so he wasn't really interested in playing, he just wanted to look at the water and wish he was in it! :)

On the monorail on the way home...what a great way to celebrate Matthew's birthday!

Anxiously awaiting Grammy's arrival at the Long Beach Airport! :)

Matthew's birthday dinner!

For Matthew's birthday dinner, we went to Chili's! He was being very silly about the pictures, but it was really cute! We asked them to sing to him, but apparently, Chili's doesn't sing anymore...so that was a bummer! But he did get to have some chocolate cake and ice cream!

*He actually did like it despite what the pictures show!

What an awesome day we had...much more fun than last year! :)
We are so grateful that my mom could come and spend it with us again and we thank dad for letting us borrow her for a few days and can't wait to see him soon!

The very first birthday!

I was reminiscing through my pictures tonight and thought I would share a few from Matthew's very first birthday last year! It's amazing that he was ever that small...time really flies! I'm more grateful for him every day!

Before our little Matty came!

So in love with our little bundle of joy!

And here he is....so little!

The to do list...

This morning, I was rocking Matthew when he first woke up and I couldn't believe that he was so big! The amazing thing is, time as gone so fast, but yet I feel like he's always been here! A year ago today, I went to my last non-stress test doctors appointment and then spent a lot of the day in bed! But that night for family home evening, we made a list of things we needed to get to be ready when Matthew came! It was my "to do" list for the next day...that list didn't happen the next day! It had to wait until my mom could help me a few days later! Way to be prepared!!!

A look back...

Because of Matthew's upcoming birthday, I have been thinking a lot about the last year and trying to remember what we did without our sweet little Matthew! I am an extremely sentimental person, so please bear with me this week as I take a look back on the last year of our life...life with Matthew!
This picture was taken a year ago today at the Long Beach Aquarium. Scott and I had decided that day that we should take the whole day together and have fun, just the two of us! Good thing we did because little did we know that Matthew was going to make his appearance 2 weeks early and come 3 days later!

How I carried that 8 pound baby...I have no idea!
(that is a shark behind me!)

GO PACKERS!!!!

So my football team, the Green Bay Packers, unfortunately lost 2 weeks ago and didn't get to go to the Superbowl! I was very upset about that, so here's my cake that I'm taking to the party we are going to this afternoon!

So for next year...GO PACKERS!
