Our little scare!

Yesterday, Matthew woke up with a fever and a bad tummy ache! I was just waiting for the stomach flu symptoms to start, but nothing ever came. About 10am, Matthew was crying in pain from his tummy, so I called the doctor. They couldn't find any open appointments, so we had to go to urgent care. The doctor was concerned that he had appendicitis. Matthew was a trooper...no tears for a blood test and he peed in a cup (thank goodness he's potty trained!) Unfortunately, nothing was confirmed by the tests. I really don't handle this kind of stuff well, but I was definitely given divine strength! I was really strong until the doctor said, "He's not a surgery candidate yet." I just wanted to cry...yet! I just kept thinking, "He's 2!" We had to watch for more severe pain and then rush him to the ER! Scott and I watched him like a hawk last night, but no more pain ever came! I took him to see his pediatrician today and he said that although we are not out of the woods yet, he looks like he's going to be okay! We continue to pray that he will remain feeling good, so that he won't have to have surgery! To me, this is one of the hardest things about being a mom! Yesterday, I just kept thinking, Why can't it be me instead? It breaks my heart to see him hurt and I can't do anything!

He laid around pretty much all day yesterday! But sleep was the best thing for him! Hopefully he is on the mend!

Baby #2 is on it's way!

SURPRISE!!! Matthew's going to be a big brother!

We wanted to wait until we had a picture of our little blob before we announced! We are all very excited! We had an ultrasound this morning and it was healthy and already on the move! It's little arms and legs were kicking and moving like crazy! You can't see it's little tiny arms and legs on the picture, but they were definitely there! Matthew loved seeing his baby "on TV" as he says! He kept saying, "Check it out, my baby's on TV!" He still doesn't totally understand, but he's excited to have a baby! I am almost 10 weeks! My due date is our anniversary, December 17 (but he's already measuring a little early!), but we have been assured by the doctor that she will not let us make it there! Because of how fast my labor was with Matthew and how big he was so early, she is already planning to induce at least 2 weeks early!
I'm feeling great! I have to take extra iron because I was a little low and didn't have any strength, but now I feel great! I LOVE being pregnant! I'm feel so blessed that I don't have morning sickness! I've been able to avoid that both times!
Scott and I both think it's another boy (which we are so EXCITED about), but we would be happy either way! But we already have a list of boy names that we are trying to decide on! Naming this baby won't be as easy as Matthew was! Matthew is sure it's a sister, but we've finally convinced him that a brother would be fun! Scroll down and vote on our blog what you think it is!
I absolutely love being a mom and I feel so blessed to have another little bundle of joy coming our way!

Silly sleeper!

The last week, I have been finding Matthew asleep in the funniest places!

This afternoon, he threw all his stuffed animals on the floor and then got down and snuggled up with them! :)

The other night, we found him asleep in his rocking chair standing up!

And the funniest one...he took his pillow and put it on his chair and fell asleep! The funny part about this is that it was that I found him asleep like this in the morning after he had already got up! I guess he wasn't ready to get up yet!

Happy Mother's Day!

Since I have become a mom, Mother's Day is my favorite holiday! Not because I get breakfast in bed, or because I don't have to clean, or because my wonderful hubby makes dinner, but because I get to celebrate being a mom...Matthew's mom! Being a mom is one of my most cherished blessings! I feel honored and humbled to have Matthew (and future children) entrusted in my care on this earth! Matthew makes Mother's Day my favorite because he made me a mom! Today, I get to celebrate Matthew and the sweet relationship that we have! I have wanted to be a mom my whole life! I looked forward to the day that I would have children and it is even better than I could have ever dreamed! It was on Mother's Day 3 years ago that we decided to bring Matthew to this earth! I LOVE being a mom! It can be hard, but at the end of the day when I tuck that little boy in bed, it makes it all worth it! Matthew (along with Scott) is my whole world! He makes me want to be better everyday! He has taught me so much and I even strive to be more like him! Matthew...I love you...thank you for being my son because I love being your mom!
Another reason I love Mother's Day is because I get to celebrate my mom! I don't think words could ever express the gratitude I have for my mother and the respect that I have for her! She is one of my best friends and I am grateful everyday that I was blessed to be her daughter! It breaks my heart that I am so far from her, but I am grateful for the times that I do get to be with her! Mom, I love you!
